City Livery Concert June 2016

CITY LIVERY CONCERTCity Livery Concert – Sunday 26th June 2016 – Barbican – London Symphony Orchestra – Sir Simon Rattle

As the Sponsoring Alderman for the 2016 City Livery Concert I would like to invite your members and their families/associates to this key event in the City of London calendar.  We are very fortunate that the Conductor of the Concert will be Sir Simon Rattle who has recently been appointed as Musical Director of the London Symphony Orchestra from 2017.

The programme will begin at 7.00 pm.  Following the recent death of Sir Peter Maxwell Davis the concert will be presented in his memory and as a celebration of his music which will very much add to the significance of the evening. The event is the second in a series of collaborative projects bringing together the London Symphony Orchestra, students from the Guildhall School and children from the local area. The concert will feature a new children’s opera by Sir Peter Maxwell Davis based on an Orcadian folktale, alongside Berlioz’ programmatic masterpiece Symphonie Fantastique.  This will be a very special evening that will highlight the arts in the City and put a spotlight on the area as a cultural hub.

The Lord Mayor will be on an overseas visit at the time of the Concert but will be represented by Sheriff Christine Rigden.  It is hoped that the Masters, Prime Wardens and Upper Bailiff of the several Livery Companies will also be able to be present as well as a wide range of members of other City organisations

The City tickets are priced at £40 each and include a souvenir programme and an interval reception/drink.  £10 of the ticket price will go towards the Lord Mayor’s Appeal

There is a priority booking line with the Barbican Box Office for City members/groups to purchase tickets at £40 each.  They should call 020 7382 7211 (Mon-Fri, 10am-5pm) and quote “26th June City Livery Allocation” to access the special seats. Group reservations can be held in advance with preferred payment by credit/debit card required by Friday 8th May.
