On Sunday morning we watched the Remembrance Parade from the Guards War Memorial and saw HRH The Princess Royal take the salute on Horseguards.
It is always a very moving ceremony, and this was no exception. After the rain on Saturday, it was a beautifully clear day. Boris Johnson turned up at the gates by the war memorial with his bicycle, and the police let him through, to cheers from the crowd; we had visions of another political controversy – senior politician, police, gates, bike – we’ve seen it all before – but perhaps there were too many witnesses this time.
Afterwards we had a very good buffet lunch at the Army and Navy Club in St James’s before we drove back home to Wales.
