Solicitors’ Banquet at The Mansion House

solicitorsOn Monday 24th I drove into London for a meeting with an old Army friend – it is always good to catch up with people from those days and hear all the gossip.

That evening, Janet and I were invited by Alderman Vincent Keaveny and his wife Amanda to the Solicitors” Banquet at the Mansion House.  Vincent is the Senior Warden, due to move into the chair in June, and the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor Alderman Fiona Woolf CBE is the Junior Warden, so we were in very esteemed company.

The principal guest and speaker was The Right Honourable Lord Thomas – the Lord Chief Justice of England Wales.  He spoke very well, but so did Vincent who proposed the toast to the guests.  This was not an easy task because there were so many guests, but Vincent did it very well, and very skilfully.  It was a lovely evening with a well selected menu, magnificent wines, great company, good speeches and we enjoyed it all very much indeed.  All too soon the Mansion House staff were encouraging people to leave as our time was up.
